The whole point of there not being any "new" characters was because they wanted mk1 to be a reboot rather than a follow up. This point is just a weird thing to criticize when by far the biggest thing that people have been praising this game for has been the bringing back of fan favorite characters

Bro I swear Onestep has been carrying me learning characters. I was thinking about dropping my main Liu Kang for Kenshi (I learned to play Liu Kang from him) and watched his video on how to learn Kenshi. I decided not to though because I thought it was too hard so instead I learned Kitana and now she’s my sub-main. Thank you so much Onestep for advancing my skill and knowledge in MK1. The Multiverse definitely felt rushed at the end. I would of liked more of a build up afterwards instead it was there are champions from those worlds how about we use these guys instead of the nes we've been fighting with and progressing up through the story. I also felt with this new timeline we could of seen a different story, except they seem to follow the same direction. Oh my god Shang Tsung, Quan Chi, Rain, Shao Kahn, Reiko, Sub Zero(Bi Han) are bad guys again. Mix it up. What if Bi han was a good Sub Zero, and it was Kuai Liang and Smoke betrayed him. What if Shao Kahn married Sindel and had Mileena as his daughter and he cared for her like a father would. Kung Lao is jealous that Liu Kang chose Raiden to be the new hero over him. Sonya is a baddie and Kano is the good guy. Or maybe even a love story, but that's too much Joker and Harley Quinn.

Banana Guard is a great character. Mostly because they have a lot of simple/powerful moves. Having low skill character is always good, especially for this type of game.
